On Thursday 12 May Ronald Lugthart, CEO at RWG, received the CO2 compensation certificate for the investment in the offset of the limited remaining CO2 emissions.

In 2021, RWG announced its plans to invest in a completely CO2-neutral operation at the terminal in Rotterdam. A number of modifications are required to reduce emissions to zero. On the road to becoming CO2 neutral, it is technically not possible to prevent all emissions immediately. Which is why RWG entered into a partnership with Shell distributor OQ Value to offset the remaining CO2 emissions via the Nature Based Solutions program. These are projects aimed at protecting and restoring natural areas, thus allowing CO2 to be absorbed by nature.

The certificate was handed over by Bram Dorresteijn, Account Manager at OQ Value and Ralph van den Ouden, Key Account Manager Commercial Fuels Benelux at Shell Nederland in the presence of Jeroen van Esch, Chief Operating Officer at RWG and Marcel van Duffelen, Manager QHSSE at RWG.
